Development Of Foundation Skills

At Emirates American School (EAS), our early childhood education program is rooted in a student-centered learning model that places each child at the heart of the experience. Our students engage in independent learning by selecting activity centers based on their preferences, followed by structured rotations to ensure a well-rounded experience. Through a balanced mix of play-based and structured activities, we support the development of essential foundational skills. Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to integrate 21st-century including critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication.

Curriculum Overview

At EAS, our Early Childhood Education curriculum is carefully crafted to cater to the developmental needs of children aged 3 to 5 years. We employ a comprehensive, play-based approach that balances academic learning with social, emotional, and physical development. Our curriculum is aligned with the American Common Core State Standards, ensuring a robust educational foundation while incorporating elements of the UAE's cultural and moral values. Our areas of focus includes:

Language & Literacy

Early literacy is a cornerstone of our program. Through interactive storytelling, phonics exercises, and vocabulary-building activities, children are encouraged to express themselves verbally and through writing, fostering a love for reading and communication.

Mathematics

Our math curriculum introduces basic concepts such as numbers, shapes, patterns, and measurements. Hands-on activities and games make learning math fun and engaging, helping children develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Science & Exploration

In our science lessons, students build on their natural curiosity by using the Engineering Design Cycle and scientific methods like investigating, planning, creating and testing. Through hands-on activities and exploration, they learn about the natural world, basic science concepts, and the value of caring for the environment.

Social Studies

We introduce children to the world around them, focusing on community, culture, and traditions. This includes understanding the role and values of Islam in UAE society, fostering respect and appreciation for their heritage.

Creative Arts

Creativity is a vital part of our curriculum. Children participate in art, music, and drama activities, which allow them to express themselves and develop their imagination and fine motor skills.

Physical Education

Physical activity is essential for young children. Our program includes daily physical activities that promote gross motor skills, coordination, and overall health and well-being.
